Despite a vast reduction in local gigs, Lightnin’ stayed busy as hell throughout July… We kicked off the month with a pair of gigs at Down N Out and Maui Sugar Mill Saloon before taking a couple of weeks off to concentrate on getting new material up to speed. Lightnin’ is happy to report that the new shit is coming along very nicely with the new rhythm section. We jumped back in the saddle for the HLP Jam at the American Legion Hall, a 2 day underground music festival which featured about 20 bands the night we played. Lightnin’ was thrilled to witness some of the exciting new music that is coming out around LA right now. We had one more surprise gig come up with Fartbarf at the Studio Lounge in Hermosa Beach… Always a great time playing with them; if you haven’t seen Fartbarf, you are only denying yourself good times.
Speaking of good times, the highlight of the month was certainly the Sun Trash gigs that we played in Palm Desert and DTLA. No disrespect to any of the previous incarnations of Sun Trash, but this new line-up and format is a whole new level of rock n roll party. Lightnin’ wants to share some pics with you:
Finally, we are going to start August with a good old-fashioned rent party at 5 Star Bar in DTLA with our buddies Clepto on 8/1! Shazam, goddamn… keep on smokin’ them joints.
