  • Preview “In The Butt” feat. Nick Oliveri

Posted by on June 28, 2014

We’ve been working hard finishing up the next record, the follow up to last year’s $atan’s Work is Never Done (Vol. I). This record treads new ground for Lightnin’ Woodcock & the Bad Muthafuckers, featuring less sexually explicit material (sorry, you dirty motherfuckers) while exploring Lightnin’s mission to win my soul back from the devil.

There are only two songs in this volume dealing with sexual themes, and Lightnin’ wants to share one of them with you right now. Lightnin’ is honored to have “Dirty” Nick Oliveri perform the lead vocal on this tune!  In turn, Nick let me play a guitar solo on his upcoming LP “Leave Me Alone” which is coming soon on Schnitzel Records. Lucky Lightnin’…

From the forthcoming LP $atan’s Work is Never Done (Vol. II) coming soon on SkR Records!

  • Sun Trash! May 8/9/10!

Posted by on May 1, 2014

Sun Trash is on the horizon once again!  Next Thursday thru Saturday, we’re performing at:

5/8 Cafe NELA in Cypress Park ($7 cover)

    5/9 Slidebar in Fullerton (FREE!)

5/10 Schmidy’s Tavern in Palm Desert (FREE!)

Jonny Whiteside wrote this spiffy preview:

Sun Trash, the toxic, all-star rock & roll confection from stalwart underworld demons Sean Wheeler, Sexual Chocolate (aka Damian Edwards) and Lightnin’ Woodcock, first erupted briefly in the late 2000s but has again recently burst from remission, like some ghastly virus. Break out the ear protection, kiddies, because, thanks to the addition of ex–Queens of the Stone Age Nick Oliveri and the legendary, 70-something psych-biker-outlaw overlord Simon Stokes, the combo is now inflicting significantly more damage. Born way, way out in the parched, low-desert sands, theirs is an irresistibly dark and disordered sound, fraught with gallows humor and a wild, offbeat brand of heavy-gauge Gila monster chomp and rumbling tumbleweed grooves.

    — By Jonny Whiteside

Same line-up as last year’s performances!  Sean Wheeler, Nick Oliveri, Simon Stokes, Sexual Chocolate, Anthony Sonetti, Wolf Woodcock and Lightnin’ Woodcock. If you missed us last year, don’t fuck up again this time!

Shazam, goddamn. Lightnin’ has been all kinds of busy lately, studying music, reading books, mixing the new album, working on new shit with the Bad MFs and writing, writing, writing… always writing, goddammit.

We’ve been making progress on a couple of new songs, plus a few select pieces from Lightnin’s rock opera, and some new covers.

$atan’s Work is Never Done (Vol. II) is coming along nicely, with a little bit of mixing left to do, Lightnin’ estimates we’re about 75% finished with this muthafucka.  We’ll be back at it around midweek, doing my best to get that shit done.

Our next performance is at Olystis Nights #24 with Clepto on March 22, then we rock Schmidy’s Tavern in Palm Desert on March 29 with Sean & Zander and Simon Stokes!

  • SKR Night at The Vu in Newhall

Posted by on February 17, 2014

Lightnin’ Woodcock & The Bad Muthafukkas return to Santa Clarita this Friday 2/21 for another SKR Night at The Vu in Newhall! The last one in September was such a great night; Lightnin’ expects this one to be even better, and hopes Perverse will actually perform this time.  Ian Down‘s new band (and Lightnin’s fellow labelmates) Go-Go Riot will deliver their premiere performance at this gig, don’t miss it.  It’s a bit of a drive for Angelenos, but Lightnin’ knows that a bunch of y’all live closer to The Vu than say, Downtown Los Angeles.  We had a great time playing with Henchmen at Spike’s Bar in Rosemead last week, looking forward to sharing the stage with them again on Friday.  We also had a great time with The Dogmen at Loaded last week, check those boys out if ever you get a chance.

Then Sunday 2/23 we’re at the Redwood Bar in DTLA with Yours Cruelly and Pizza Wolf! Lightnin’ is getting it done early that night, starting at 10 PM.  Lightnin’ realizes it has been a while since I’ve done any blogging or road shows… I’m working on more new shit, plus we’re mixing $atan’s Work Is Never Done (Vol. II) and hopefully there will be some news to report soon on those fronts.  In the meantime, keep on smoking them joints; Lightnin’ loves y’all, gawdemit.
